Squirrel hunting set to start in area Oct. 15

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Mississippi squirrel hunting season is quickly approaching and will last through the end of February.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks says now is the time to check equipment and prepare for a safe hunting season.

Hunters should be sure their hunting licenese are not expired, according to the MDWFP.

NATCHEZ, MS (WLBT) - People have been here in this area of the country a lot longer than we imagine.

And some of the oldest of the earliest of the inhabitants have left some pretty big monuments behind.

We did a series a few weeks ago called the "7 Wonders of Mississippi."

And as you would imagine, there are way more than 7 wonders in Mississippi.

This is another that could have and probably should have been in that original 7 wonders.

This is an ancient land.

Natchez National Historical Park fees waived tomorrow

The Natchez National Historical Park is waiving fees for tours of the Historic Melrose Estate and the William Johnson House tomorrow in recognition of the first day of summer.

Natchez National Historical Park invites people to tour both houses free of charge Tuesday, according to www.visitnatchez.org.

These two sites provide an excellent opportunity for families to begin their summer vacation spending time together, having a picnic, and learning more about the rich history of Natchez.
