Natchez Cathedral's Upton signs with Hinds baseball

Thirteen baseball players have signed to play for Hinds Community College for the 2013 season -- including Natchez Cathedral's Caleb Upton.

The Eagles were able to go outside the Hinds district in the early signing period due to the new Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) recruiting rules.

If losing weight is at the top of your New Year’s resolutions list, consider using technology to make it easier. Before beginning any new diet, consult with your medical professional or nutritionist.

According to a Mississippi State University Extension Service publication, a good weight-loss diet includes fewer calories than you normally eat, foods that appeal to you, food that is available locally, a variety of foods from the various food groups, your favorite foods on occasion, and foods that you can afford.

Mississippi casino revenue up in October

Mississippi's casinos won $182.2 million in October, down 5% from $191.6 million in October 2010.

The 19 river casinos won $93.9 million in October, down 9% from $103.5 million in the year-ago month, according to Mississippi Department of Revenue figures. Winnings at the 11 Mississippi coast casinos totaled $88.2 million, up slightly from $88.1 million the previous October.
